Morning all. Welcome to another Hump Day! I pulled out an old wip that Kerrianne's impatiently waiting on. She has cracked her rather sharp whip and so here I am...almost 10k in. Now this is a paranormal I've been toying with... enjoy!
Sam stared at the beautiful creature before him; anger and lust a heady combination. He struggled to keep balance. No way in hell did he need this…this whatever the fuck she was to remind him of the events that had led him to his ostracism from society. The details of which were none of her fucking business. The accusations of the U.S. government that had ended in a court marshal and dishonorable discharge from the Navy he’d given his entire life to had crushed him. His classified lab research had been stolen, used to murder thousands of innocent people in the South Pacific. The only thing that had saved him from being thrown in the brink was the lack of concrete evidence. But he knew. Knew the truth of what had happened.
She rubbed her wrists, confusion in her eyes. Eyes the color of a polished Tiger’s Eye—alternating bands of rich yellow and golden brown. Ghastly purplish marks marred her creamy skin from where he’d grabbed her. Guilt tore through his gut along with an undercurrent of surprise. He hadn’t expected this creature to be vulnerable. She’d exuded nothing but confidence and oozed seductive power since she’d shown up here unannounced. Something deep inside him softened.
“I’m sorry.” He scraped a hand through his damp hair. “I didn’t mean to hurt you.” His voice sounded rusty from disuse, even to his own ears. “Agent…whatever your name is. Your Council’s problems aren’t my concern. So leave,” he ground out. “Now.”
That's it for now...hope you enjoyed a sneak peek at From Lust To Ashes! To read the other great hooks, go here: http://humpdayhook.blogspot.com!
KEEPING A PULSE ON LIFE & ROMANCE http://kathleengrieve.blogspot.com/
Well it was an exciting weekend of baseball here in the desert as my team, the Arizona Diamondbacks faced one of our rivals here in the NL West, The Los Angeles Dodgers. We ended up taking the series, 2 out of 3, but it was a real nail biter right down the the bottom of the ninth on Sunday afternoon as Paul Goldschmidt snuck a hit past the infield to score the only run of the game as Pollack ran to home! Otherwise, Josh Beckett was a tough pitcher with his LA defense keeping us off the base.
Before the game, Hall of Fame broadcaster, Joe Garagiola Sr. was honored in a special pre-game ceremony as he retired today. As he stood there with tears on his cheeks and they played a video of his lifetime achievements, all I could think of was, "What a humble man". We were very lucky to have him as part of the Diamondbacks organization.
I wanted to show you what the field looked like Saturday night with the roof open. It was a bit breezy, which is why they ended up having a closed roof for Sunday's game.
I was one of 20,000 fans who arrived in time to get my BEAT LA t-shirt! :)
My boys celebrate our win Sunday!!
Well now the Diamondbacks are 8-4 in second place in the NL West right behind the dreaded Giants. We go to Jennifer Simpkins neck of the woods and play her Skankees Tuesday... **hands Jennifer a box of tissues** We should take NY easily. Not sure when we play Eden Connor's Atlanta Braves, but they've been on fire in the NL East, so they will at least be a bit of competition for my AZ hotties when we finally come face to face!
